Happy birthday to Alan Turing! We’ll say more very soon, but Dr. Turing’s story will factor into our 2024-2025 season rather significantly, and we’re excited to share it with you. Stay tuned for details!Alan Turing *38 was born on this day in 1912. He entered Princeton in 1936 following studies at King’s College, Cambridge, and just before the publication of his influential paper, “On Computable Numbers,” in which he envisioned abstract machines (now called Turing machines) that became the basis of modern computers. After earning his Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton in 1938, Turing returned to England, where during World War II he was central to the successful effort to decode the German Enigma ciphers, a crucial development in the Allied victory. Today, Turing is widely recognized as the father of computer science and is an icon in the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights. A portrait of Turing by artist Jordan Sokol was unveiled at Princeton in 2019 and now hangs in Lewis Library atrium: bit.ly/45CrlPg ... See MoreSee Less

SUPPORT PPM ➡️ tinyurl.com/supportppm⭐️A message from Jan Johnson, President of our Board of Trustees⭐️Wow! What a season it has been!We began with a stunning performance of Handel’s rarely performed SOLOMON, followed by a SOLD-OUT performance of our annual "Feast of Carols" featuring John Rutter’s GLORIA and Ryan Brandau’s arrangements of seasonal favorites. This spring we paired Mozart’s well-loved REQUIEM with exciting new music by Jasmine Barnes, Composer, whose presence at our concert amplified and enriched our collective experience. And the capstone of the season was the heart-rending oratorio SANCTUARY ROAD by Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell, relating personal stories of real people on the historic Underground Railroad, as documented by William Still. Each program this season did what choral music does best: tell great stories, and remind us of our shared humanity. We touched the hearts of people from all over central New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and New York City, and from as far away as Delaware, Ohio, and Louisiana. We are fortunate to have, in Ryan Brandau, an Artistic Director connected to both outstanding vocal soloists and the region’s finest instrumentalists. These musicians are gratified to work with Princeton Pro Musica and Ryan, but collaborating with top-tier artists represents a significant financial investment. TICKET SALES COVER JUST 26% of the cost of presenting these ambitious, amazing programs. Our choristers pay dues. We source competitive public and private grants. We produce a successful annual cabaret fundraiser. However, your support is critical to our ability to bring you music at this level of excellence and professionalism into the future. If you appreciate the world-class concerts that Princeton Pro Musica has been able to present, this season and every season, and to help us end our fiscal year in a position of financial strength, we hope you will consider making a special end-of-season contribution, so that we can continue to offer you the kind of excellent, innovative musical programming typically only found in larger metropolitan areas.Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you for our exciting 2024-2025 season!P.S. It takes all of us to make these musical experiences happen. We at Princeton Pro Musica are so grateful for your part in the process. We hope we can count on you!
