Brian Matthews

Brian Matthews is an Associate in the law firm of Cole Schotz, P.C. in Hackensack, NJ. He is an associate in the Litigation Department where his practice focuses on commercial litigation. Brian has experience litigating all phases of complex cases including class actions on behalf of major financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies. He also has experience in trials, mediation, arbitration, appeals, and multidistrict litigation. Previously, Brian was an associate at the law firm of Reed Smith, LLP and, before that, at LeClair Ryan, P.C.

Brian is a graduate of Rutgers Law School where he served as co-Chair of the Moot Court Board and as a Submissions Editor for the Women’s Rights Law Reporter. Following law school, Brian served as law clerk to the Honorable Ronald B. Graves, J.A.D. in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.

Brian earned his B.S. at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and his J.D. at Rutgers School of Law – Newark, NJ. He is admitted to the Bar in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York.

Brian has served as a trustee of Princeton Pro Musica since 2016 and Chair of the Governance Committee since 2017.
